CIELAB color space is newer, updated and more exact color space than the CIE 1931 color space.
It’s in 3D : it uses polar coordinates instead of cartesian ones
It is “perceptually uniform”, aka the change in color is proportional to the perceived change by humans (but not perfectly, unfortunately)
