sRGB (“Standard RGB”) is a standard color space used for photos, screens. It was initially designed to standardize the display of computer video on CRT screens.
It has a transfer function
On on hand, it’s widely supported by devices, which makes it a reliable choice for displaying images. Its Gamut does not cover the whole visible color space, though.
Being standard, sRGB is generally used to display images that do not have an embedded color profile.
Therefore, image for sharing may be exported to sRGB, but archived and processed in a better color space, such as the 2020 one.
More careful exports (for printing, or displaying on high quality screens) may be exported in another color space.
